Proper Placement Leads to Academic Success

Identifying the right Verticy Learning level for your child is easy! There are two ways:

Free Placement Recommendation

If you are unsure which levels of the Verticy curriculum would be the best fit for your child, have him or her take our personalized Skills Assessment. The Skill Assessment provides a free evaluation of your child's academic strengths and deficits by one of our Language Learning Specialists. There is no cost for the Skills Assessment and no obligation to enroll afterward. The two-part evaluation will help determine the following:

  • where your child has mastery of academic content and where your child needs additional help
  • which strategies would best address your child's learning deficits
  • whether Verticy Learning can help address your child's needs
  • where to begin in the Verticy Learning curriculum to optimize your child's academic progress
  • what implementation (full or supplemental curriculum) would best suit your family's objectives

The Skills Assessment is appropriate whether you are enrolling your child in our Complete Curriculum, or in our supplemental and intervention programs, Verticy Reading, Verticy Writing, or Verticy Math. If you are enrolling in Verticy Math, your child should only complete the offline portion of the placement evaluation.

There are two parts to the Skills Assessment:

Step 1
Part 1: The Online Portion

First, your student will complete the online portion of the Skills Assessment. This assessment is not timed, but it will take your student 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Please make sure that you have a set of working headphones or speakers before you begin.

Step 2
Part 2: The Offline (written) Portion

After completing and submitting the online portion, download and print the offline (written) portion. Have your student complete as much as he or she is able of each section of the evaluation. The test material will progressively become more difficult within each section. Students should understand that they are not expected to complete each section, as each section contains material that evaluates skills up through the highest Verticy Learning level. Submission guidelines are on the evaluation. Please note: you will need Adobe PDF Viewer to view the written portion of the placement assessment.

After your student completes this portion of the evaluation and returns it to Verticy Learning, a Placement Specialist will contact you with a personalized course configuration for your child.

Important Note

The Verticy Learning online assessment and placement evaluation are not qualified instruments to diagnose dyslexia or any other language-based learning difference. They are solely intended to assess students for enrollment with Verticy Learning.
