Step 2: Instructional Support

You may choose to enhance your learning experience with our optional Advisory Teaching Service or Verticy Live Tutor.

Advisory Teaching Service

The Verticy Advisory Teaching Service (ATS) enhances your student’s academic experience by providing additional instructional support through the personal, constructive, and encouraging feedback of a Verticy Advisory Teacher. Our Advisory Teachers are professional instructors who are well versed in child development, instructional strategies, and the Verticy curriculum.

Eight times throughout the year, your Advisory Teacher evaluates a set of tests—one in each subject area—to assess your child’s academic performance. In addition, as part of ATS, your Advisory Teacher listens to your student read using the Read-Aloud ATS feature and then provides feedback on fluency and accuracy.

A substantial benefit of ATS is that all Advisory Teachers take into account the challenges of an LLD. For example, when an Advisory Teacher grades a student's original composition they focus on evaluating the content of the writing rather than on spelling and handwriting errors. The result is your student’s deepened understanding of all subjects.

The Advisory Teaching Service complements your role as instructor by providing the following:

• a partner to reinforce your academic instruction and goals
• evaluations of your child’s work in all subjects, including detailed feedback
• a “team teaching” approach
• additional motivation and support for your child
• a certificate of completion and a transcript with subject grades (Available upon request.)

Verticy Live Tutor

Students enrolled in Verticy Learning have the option of meeting with a Verticy Live Tutor in a personal, one-on-one, interactive session from their home computer. Parents and students identify the Language Arts concepts they want to address and inform the Verticy Tutor when the session is arranged. Sessions can be purchased one at a time or in a bundle of ten for a discount. Sessions run 30 minutes each and can be accessed from your home computer.
